Women in Comedy No. 12 - The Women of SNL

If March had more days in the month I would draw all women of Saturday Night Live.  But sadly, I must bring my Women in Comedy series to an end.  So I decided to focus on the ladies of SNL who have influenced me the most: Maya Rudolph, Tina Fey & Amy Poehler.

New Work - Jerk at the Bar

"Hey there, I'm kindof a big deal..."

Lately, I've been playing around with new styles, technique and subject matter.  I want to tell more stories in my art - instead of just drawing the girl on the vespa, illustrate why exactly she's even on that vespa in the first place.

I call this illustration Jerk at the Bar and along with last week's IF entry, it's part of my "Douche-Bag" series - I kid!  Here, I drew cocky young professional hitting on a model during Happy Hour - she's clearly not having it.

Women in Comedy No. 11: Ab-Fab

"Sweetie Darling! Darling Sweetie!!"  As a teen, Absolutely Fabulous was my FAVORITE television show from across the pond.  You can have your Monty Python but I will forever adore my Patsy and Edina.

"Shades" is this week's Illustration Friday topic.  That makes me think of the long needed and well-deserved vacation I so desperately hope for... soon...soon...

Lady Gaga - the Tattoo!

This makes my week and it's only Monday! When Allie Dominguez contacted for me for permission to use my Lady Gaga illustration as a tattoo, I was truly flattered.  Now I'm just all out amazed.  I think the tattoo artist really did a nice job interpreting my style of work.  Rock on, Allie, with your bad self!  You can check out her tattoo and her awesome blog at www.allisynwonderland.tumblir.com

Women Comedians for Women's History Month

Women in Comedy Illustration No. 1
Lucille Ball

A couple of months ago, a dear friend in comedy made a broad statement, "There are no funny women comedians."  This struck a chord with me because my friend said this after coming from an improv show....hosted by women ... where one of the hosts happened to be me.  Ouch.
